Remy Autz: Currently leading the
Geospatial Technology for Environmental Sciences Program at
Phoenix College. We prepare our students for positions where
they will use computers to manipulate geographic information
and images gained through remote sensing. Our four courses
introduce mapping and remote sensing concepts, ArcView 9.1,
image analysis, surface analysis, 3D analysis, and network
analysis. In their final course, students complete an independent
campus project.
Retired from the City of Phoenix in 2006. I supported the Urban Planning effort with research and GIS for 17 years. I worked socio-demographic and land use. Estimating and projecting population for the Phoenix area was part of my job. During the last 5 years, I maintained GIS datasets for school locations, attendance areas, and district boundaries within the City of Phoenix.
Worked for Phelps-Dodge. I planned work for the Mechanical-Electrical Shops at the Morenci Branch for 2 years.
While serving in the Army and Air Force reserve components for 21 years, I worked in administrative, logistic, transportation, and fuel supply specialties. On active duty, 1966-1975, I was responsible for leading and supporting small unit infantry operations in Viet Nam, Panama, and Korea.
Formal Education. Received a Master of Science in Urban Planning from the University of Arizona in 1977.
Arizona Native. I grew up in Mesa, AZ and enjoyed outdoor experiences in both northern and southern AZ while growing up.
