Research Ranch Advisory Team
Emilio Carillo: I’m a University
of Arizona (U of A) graduate with a B. S. degree in range
management. My career with the Natural Resources Conservation
Service (NRCS) began as an intern in 1996 at the Willcox Field
Office. As the summer internship ended in Willcox I returned
to the U of A & worked part time in the NRCS Tucson Field
Office. I graduated in 1998 & began working full time.
As a NRCS Field Office employee my major responsibilities
were to provide land owners (ranchers & farmers) with
conservation planning & management advice on private lands.
In my current position with NRCS I’m responsible for
training new employees & keeping everyone update to with
new technology. Also I assist our field office on any special
projects where expertise is needed in range management.
As a 6th generation Tucsonan I feel I
have special ties to Southern Arizona. My family began ranching
on what is now the east side of Tucson in the late 1800’s.
The ranch my family once operated what is now the Tanque Verde
guest ranch. Although my family no longer ranches we continue
to raise horses and enjoy hunting and the outdoors.
